How to Create the Perfect AI Design for Your T-Shirt
Want to print a one-of-a-kind AI masterpiece? We love seeing your custom creations! While we can print almost anything, following these tips will ensure your design looks its absolute best on your new gear.
1. The “Golden Rules” for the Best Quality
AI generators usually create images for screens, but printing involves ink and fabric. To get that premium “store-bought” look, here is what we strongly recommend:
-
Go Big (Resolution): For the sharpest details, larger images work best (ideally 2000×2000 pixels or higher).
-
Note: Standard AI images (1024×1024) are printable, but they may have a slightly softer or “vintage” look when blown up to full shirt size.
-
-
Simple is Often Better: Images with “flat” colors and clear outlines often print more vividly than images with heavy smoke, fog, or hyper-complex shading.
2. The Best Free Tool to Use
If you haven’t started your design yet, we suggest trying Recraft.ai.
-
Why? It lets you generate “Vector Art”.
-
The Benefit: Vector images are naturally high-quality and never get blurry, no matter how big we print them!
-
How to use it: Select “Vector Art” as your style, generate your image, and download the SVG file to upload to our designer.
3. The “Magic Prompt” Formula
If you are using ChatGPT or Google Gemini, the words you use matter. To get a design that looks great on clothing, try adding these keywords to your prompt:
[Your Subject] + [Style Keywords] + [Technical Keywords]
Copy-paste these keywords into your prompt:
“vector art style, flat design, die-cut sticker style, thick outlines, solid white background, high contrast”
Example:
-
Standard Prompt: “A cool picture of a wolf in the forest.”
-
Print-Ready Prompt: “A wolf head howling at a moon, vector art style, flat design, thick clean outlines, die-cut sticker, solid white background, high contrast.”
4. Need the Background Removed? We can help!
AI images often come with a square background box behind the main subject. If you are printing on a white shirt, this is usually fine. However, if you are printing on a coloured garment, that square box will show up.
Don’t know how to remove it? No problem. We offer free background removal for simple, solid-coloured backgrounds.
-
Upload your image as it is.
-
On the Payment/Checkout page, look for the “Order Notes/Comments” box.
-
Simply write: “Please remove background.”
-
We will strip away the background so only your main design prints!
