Printing methods

T-shirt printing methods explained

We print in-house with several methods, so we can match the process to your design, garment and quantity. Here is how they compare.

Which t-shirt printing method is right for you?

Online orders are printed by DTF (direct to film), which gives full colour prints on light and dark garments from a single t-shirt. For logos on workwear we often suggest embroidery, and for a finish that stands out, glitter, 3D puff or metallic.

You do not have to decide on your own. We have done this since 1996 and know which process works best for which design. If you have a preference, tell us and we will talk it through.

  • Your design: photos and fades, solid shapes, fine lines or brand colours
  • Your garment: cotton t-shirts, polyester sportswear, caps or bags
  • Your quantity: one gift, a team of 20 or a run of hundreds
  • The finish you want: soft, stitched, raised or sparkly

Printing method questions

Which method do you use for online orders?

Garments in the online designer are printed by DTF (direct to film), from a single t-shirt upwards. Embroidery and special effect prints are quoted separately.

Can I choose embroidery or a special finish instead?

Yes. We know which process suits each design, so tell us what you have in mind before you order and we will discuss the best way to do it.

Can you print fluorescent or neon colours?

Not with DTF. Neon colours print slightly more muted in ink. If your design depends on an exact colour, ask us before you order and we will advise you.

How should I wash a printed garment?

Wash at 30 degrees or below, avoid tumble drying and do not iron directly on the print. Cared for like this, a print can last as long as the garment.

Not sure which method you need?
